British Gas Energy Trust: Healthy Homes Project

Citizens Advice in Dorset worked with other agencies, led by Dorset Community Action, on a project to help people living in fuel poverty across Dorset. This project was funded by the British Gas Energy Trust which is an independent charity and a separate legal entity to British Gas.
The project brought together a number of partners including Age UK Dorchester and Citizens Advice to give advice on welfare benefits and access to grants and other financial help; Magna Housing Association working with the Dorset Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty team to identify tenants who might benefit from a wood-burning stove; Dorset Mental Health Forum to provide training to staff to understand the experiences of those with mental health needs, and Wyvern Savings and Loans to provide low-cost loans for people struggling to pay fuel bills.
